Library Business Hours
The Medical Library's business hours are:
Monday through
Friday
8:00am to 4:00pm
After hours and weekend
access to the Library is available to the Medical/Dental Staff, Interns,
and hospital staff. Access by the general public is during specified
business hours or special arrangements.
Materials Available
The Medical library houses books, journals, videos and reference
material. Five years worth of journals are stored in the
library. Any journal article beyond the five year mark can be
researched from other source libraries. The library has the ability
to borrow literature from other libraries, if the literature is not
available in our library. (See Interlibrary Loan Service for more
information).
To Obtain Materials
Borrowing privileges:
Medical/Dental staff and
Hospital employees may borrow materials for two weeks. If the book
is needed for a longer period of time, the card must be signed and dated
after each two week period.
Individuals not affiliated with Lewistown Hospital must speak with the
library staff regarding borrowing privileges. Research must be
conducted in the Medical Library.
Reference books and journals DO NOT
circulate. Photocopy services are available free of charge.
Please ask library staff to assist when copying reference books.
There is no charge at this time for overdue materials. Cost of
repair or replacement of lost or damaged materials is incurred by the
borrower.
Location of Library
The Medical Library is located on the 4th floor next to Cardiopulmonary
Services and across the hall from the Vascular Lab.
Computer Access
A computer workstation is located within the library for use by
employees, the Medical/Dental staff and interns. A username and
password is required for access. If you are a new employee or
intern, your manager must complete a Computer Access Form and submit to
MIS (Management Information Systems). |

To answer pages or to make other phone calls throughout the hospital,
please use the phone near the main entrance to the library.
Interlibrary Loan Service
The Medical Library is connected with other Hospitals to provide better
service to our doctors, employees, and the community when researching
information. If an article is not available through our library, the
library staff will assist you in borrowing a copy from another source
library through the DOCLINE system. This is an online system
that allows the Library staff to search and order copies of the article
from other associated libraries. We have provided a search request
form for anyone interested in a search topic or journal article.
These forms are located outside the library office. Place the
completed forms in the designate area outside the library office.
Charge for Journal Article Searches:
The cost of
the articles may vary. All articles will be searched first at no
charge. The article may be available at no cost; if not, the cost
will be raised incrementally from $11.00 - $22.00. If a rush
delivery is requested, a maximum amount of $22.00 will be charged.
Fee applies to staff and community.
Delivery of the Article:
Requested articles can be
delivered by mail, fax, or email. If email is requested, and $11.00
fee will be charged.
**Articles requested by Medical/Dental staff will be free of
charge.
Photocopy Service
The Medical Library photocopier is available for all to use free of
charge. When copying, if you need assistance, please feel free to
ask the library staff.
Food and Drinks in Library
It is preferred that food and drink are not brought into the library
for the protection of our resources.
Proper disposal of trash is
appreciated. Please call Environmental Services to clean up large
spills.
