Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU-4B)

On this unit, it is primarily an adult and geriatric patient population that receives basic medical nursing care for treatment of respiratory conditions. These people also receive pre- and post-surgical care and monitoring as well as convalescence and health restoration.

Most patients are admitted after experiencing a heart attack, congestive heart failure and cardiac dysrhythmias. Other frequent admissions are respiratory conditions and multiple system problems.

Patients who need heart monitoring and/or specialized therapies or drugs may come to this unit. They require constant heart monitoring, more frequent monitoring of blood pressure and the special monitoring that is required for certain medications.

Staff are specially trained and educated to care for these patients. All RNs are trained in ACLS. Highly qualified LPNs and PCAs are also specially trained to watch the patients’ heart monitors 24 hours a day.
